Version 1.0.8 Released

August 17th, 2010
Version 1.0.8 has been released along with an updated WiiMC Channel as a quick fix for those experiencing issues loading WiiMC from the channel. It also fixes the freeze-on-home-button issue some were having. Full changelog:

  • Improved USB mounting and updated channel. Should hopefully help those who are receiving the “Could not find a valid SD or USB device” message
  • Improved network initialization

    Hi,

    The new channel installer works well, but now I think there’s a bug in WiiMC 1.0.8. I have two partitions in my HDD, one in NTFS and the other one in FAT32; while the previous version showed both of them, the latest only shows the NTFS one. Tried loading from the channel and from the HBC, the same result.

    Hey, new update and channel forwarder has fixed my previous hard drive problems! However, my ntfs partition is now not showing up. Not a problem for me as I only use it for large non-video files, but thought it would be of interest. Also, is there a reason that the forwarder channel can’t be downloaded via the Homebrew Browser? Would be helpful for my less technical Wii-owning friends.

    NTFS partition isn’t showing here, either. And it is a rather irritating issue, as I store everything on that so it can work well with my computer. Blah.

    Guys, i love wiimc, but this update made it useless to me. My usb-hddrive can’t be found anymore [ntfs]. A fix or rollback to 1.07 is very welcome.

    @IrSasquatch
    all my videos are on my NTFS partition argh!!! sounds like i might have some long hours of backing up and reformatting.

    Im guessing your FAT32 hard drive is what is working for you IrSasquatch

    My NTFS partition no longer shows up in WiiMC with 1.08 either. I reverted back to the 1.07 from HBC and I’m back up and running.

    I just bought a Wii.
    I installed HBC and IOS58.
    Then I installed HBC again and it loads using IOS58.
    I just installed this version of WiiMC and it won’t play DVDs.
    It keeps saying invalid DVD format.
    My SD card is formatted as FAT(AKA FAT16) and not FAT32.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    I only have these 3 installed on my 4.2 system.

    1.0.7 worked with videos on my NTFS partition, but froze on home button press.
    1.0.8 does not find my NTFS partition at all!

    Looks like Fat32 is correct for me as well so if you have larger hard drives and windows does not give you the option to format to fat32 then try this program. I formatted my hard drive to fat32 with it and worked great.

    FYI Program works on Windows 7 64bit PC.

    @stickman
    Hey man don’t reformat, there still there but are not being detected by WiiMC. Downgraded back to v1.0.7 and no problems.

    Same Problem here. My NTFS HDD wouldn´t show up on WiiMC (1.0.6 works fine) IOS 58 is installed trough IOS58 installer.
    Also the new forwarder channel won´t work. It allways says unable to access NAND. Version 1.02 of the channel worked fine too.

    NTFS USB doesn’t work via the channel forwarder when using V1.08.
    V1.08 works OK with the Homebrew channell.
    Older versions (I tested V1.06) work OK with the Channel forwarder.
    So, it looks like it’s something specific to V1.08.

    This last update broke the NTFS recognition, the bad news is that I still have what is supoused to be the old 1.0.6 .dol, and my NTFS partition doesn’t work either…!!

    Thanks Tantric, my USB HD is working fine now with v1.0.8 but I still getting the same problem and error message “Could not find a valid SD or USB device” when I load WiiMC from the WiiMC channel. I installed the channel with the new WiiMC Channel Installer v1.4, of course removing previous version first

    Hello, I have tried to figure out why my movies and sounds on my usb disk weren’t being shown and the update was the reason… I’ve tried backing up the files, format the drive but nothing at all worked! The 1.0.8 doesn’t solve the problem! What should I need to do in order to have my usb disc appearing? It only shows SD card and DVD! 🙁

    I am using hdd Western Digital 500GB and with v1.0.8 I can’t access to it (It has only one NTFS partition).
    With v1.0.7 I did not have this problem. When will be released the fix ?

    Using a higher value then one for the subtitle size will make the audio asynchronous over time (occured for me with xvid, divx videos and srt or ass subs)

    Thank you for this wonderful app 🙂

    Damn…I’d love to upgrade, but it sounds like there are some pretty major issues with all the new releases. Guess I’m sticking with 1.04 for now until a stable build comes out.

    Thanks for all your hard work, WIIMC is amazing.

    August 18th, 2010 at 02:08 | #44

    @kolbe
    yes, with 1.0.6 and channel 1.0.2 work right

  45. Floyd
    August 18th, 2010 at 08:06 | #45

    Yeah 1.0.7 and 1.0.8 seem buggy to me. HDD takes a while to load and sometimes when going through folders; ‘ can’t access usb’ messages come up. Lots of freezing and code dumps on video files too. Anyone else getting this with 1.0.7 or 1.0.8?

    1.0.6 is pretty much flawless except for sometimes freezing while pressing home and mkv/mp4 files. I copied the
    onlinemedia.xml’ file so I can use Youtube but can’t search.

    Hopefully 1.0.8 can get up to scratch like 1.0.6 with the added features/improvements.

    Sticking with 1.0.6 for now.
