Another great build. 🙂 The artifact fix for online media has been awesome in the few tests I’ve given. 🙂 So for now, the fixes I would like to see are getting DVDs to run just as smoothly as they do with the latest MPlayer CE build (problem with audio and video stuttering/syncing) and better FLV support (This build did fix a bit of the artifacting some had, but when I try and fast forward through some vids, the video would just stop)

As for suggestions or changes to some of the fixes:

    1) I like the check marks next to viewed files, but maybe the check mark or something could stand for files that are waiting to be resumed so you can just uncheck them if you want to start the video over again from the very beginning?

    2) Have WiiMC put our SMB folders in alphabetical order.

better FLV support (This build did fix a bit of the artifacting some had, but when I try and fast forward through some vids, the video would just stop)

That’s impossible. VP6 uses prediction from previous frames, you can’t fast forward. What it’s actually doing is stopping and waiting for the rest of the video to download, then it can continue from that point. Same as if you use YouTube or any other online media.

Anyone else getting random restarts when trying to change settings while WiiMC is in use? (ie. Having a movie on pause)

This happened to me a few times when trying to change options like Theme and Sleep Timer.

Any chance you can allow the use of USB2? USB1 works flawlessly but when I plug my movie HDD into USB2 nothing comes up.

Trying to install the new Channel Installer 1.1, but I get the error ES_GetStoredTMDSize (1-4) failed! (-106)
I have installed 202 Hermes v5, because the 202 installer for download also gives an error like this.

Another fantastic update, but put me down for continuing DVD audio problems. Still having to stay at 1.01 for DVDs, but keeping a parallel copy with the latest to check out all your great work.

screensaver is nice BUT It kicks in even when viewing a slideshow and I can’t find any way to disable it?
This is a bit of an issue for me as when playing a play list from HDD, if the HD spins down during the current song Wiimc crashes on trying to load the next one. I got around this problem by playing a slideshow from the HDD when listening to music, but the screensaver has put me back to square one..

Awesome! Good codec support. Bye bye MplayerCE for sure. WiiMC does everything I want.

Feature request: Create playlist, simular to PS3 (for local content, ie USB, SMB & FTP). It will then be perfect for me.

Bug report: SMB mount can’t initial network on first try to my NAS. I hit “Retry” couple times and it works okay.

Bug report: when resume playing video (don’t know codec type), audio would squeal and picture is frozen (to last frame displayed). It would continue to buffer, but only sound is squealing. It took a while before it respond to wiimote. Once I got back to the file list, When I clicked the same video again, it resumes and plays correctly. This is via SMB, Zyxel nsa-220 latest firmware.

  35. June 8th, 2010 at 04:44 | #35

    Thanks a lot Tantric!!!

But bad news for me, as I reported in the bug tracking. The only version that works well and stable for me is MPlayer-CE 0.76. The other versions of MPlayer-CE and WiiMC (including 1.0.4), hangs during wifi samba video playing. It is random, sometimes less than 1 hour other more… but never I get to see a complete film.

The hangs is that the image gets random, and a ugly sound. Finally a core dump.

I suspect that can be related with an buffer under run, a wifi router reset… because with MPlayer-CE the cache filling message appears with the same frecuency (more or less), but in MPlayer-CE 0.76 after cache refill playing continous correctly, but in WiiMC never shows the message of refilling cache, and sometimes it hangs.

Maybe I’m missing something, but is there a way to get that annoying status bar to go away when I’m watching videos? I just really see no need for it to still be there 5 minutes into a movie. Maybe I’m just doing something wrong…….. Oh, other than that, this is freakin’ awesome!

Hi, thanks for your dedication on developing the best media player for Wii.

I have some suggestions for future updates, almost all about subtitles:

1 – a greater range to delay (now is just -2 to 2 seconds)
2 – possibility to change the position of the subtitle vertically
    3 – compatibility with portuguese symbols (ã, õ, é, ç, á…)
4 – a translucent band (or stripe, or targe) in grey (5%, 10%…), cause there are movies so brightness and difficult to read the subtitles.
    (some examples: http://ryan.com.br/imagens/p240k/snapshots/linhas%20muito%20longas.jpg http://ryan.com.br/imagens/p240k/snapshots/teste_contraste_w.jpg http://ryan.com.br/imagens/DVP642/dvp642_divx_fundo_legendas.jpg http://m499.photobucket.com/image/tarja%20cinza%20dvd%20divx%20legenda/Leepr2/IMAG0009.jpg.html?src=www)

Thanks again and sorry for ask more work from you. 🙂

    @OWNPROGRAM
yes, there is a way to hide the status bar, just by moving the wiimote pointer down, or somewhere out from the screen.
I had the same question, and of course the developers thought on that, in I think it’s a great simple solution.

Is it just me or does it only handle 5 smb shares is there no way that you can add more i tried adding a share with links to the other shares within it but that didnt work ? apart form that its excellent im getting slowly converted away from xbmc

  43. June 20th, 2010 at 10:22 | #43

    Great program guys,

Can you make it work like the XBOX Mediacenter? Wich detects DVD’s on the Harddisk of your PC. WiiMC unfortunatelly doesn’t and only shows the VOB files.

    June 21st, 2010 at 09:13 | #44

If you press (1) on the wii remote, it should only display the status bar when you point the cursor that the screen.

@Drunoclu it should as long as you re-softmod your wii to allow the custom ios’s and of course the homebrew channel.

I have one suggestion for future update: A search button would be great, for example if you want to find a mp3 or a movie from thousands files.

How does one Register to be a Member on this Forum, so one can post a Message about problems getting WiiMC 1.04 to even load via Homebrew installer?

  49. drhookster
    July 5th, 2010 at 09:36 | #49

got really excited to learn this new WiiMC was like WiiFlow USB Lopader GX and CfgLoader providing GUI selection of Wii Games Titles to load.

I was after something similar for MP3 and Video files – looks like WiiMC fits what I am after, so eager to try it out and see if it meets my expectations.

Trouble is I have experienced problems getting this WiiMC to install!

Here is what I tried and experienced:-

    1) Followed http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiMC for installation instructions

    2) Downloaded the following WiiMC installer packages:-
    IOS 202 Installer
    WiiMC Channel Installer 1.1
    WiiMC 1.0.4 (New Install)

    3) Installed IOS57 v5661 using ‘YAWMM’

    4) Installed ‘wiimc’ Folder from the unpacked WiiMC 1.0.4 (New Install) folder, into ‘apps’ Folder of SD card

    5) Installed ‘wiimc-channel-installer’ Folder from the unpacked ‘WiiMC Channel Installer 1.1’ folder, into ‘apps’ Folder of SD card

Put the SD card in my Wii and Booted to the Homebrew Channel, and noticed the WiiMC Channel Installer, the WiiMC Installer and the WiiMC IOS202 Installer are there in the Homebrew Channel.

    a) Try launching WiiMC IOS202 Installer
Launches/loads but then nothing happens, just then Screen goes black – have to power down and reboot!

    b) Try launching WiiMC Installer
Launches/loads but then nothing happens, just then Screen goes black – have to power down and reboot!

    c) Try launching WiiMC Channel Installer
Launches/loads and menu comes on screen advising it was successful.
This does produce the WiiMC Channel and this does launch when selected and started (but WiiMC not installed, so cant run)

Spent some time reading through the Threads, and it seems others have had problems, but not discovered any replies, really identifying a specific problem/solution?

The following is what I did pick up on and try to see if I could get the WiiMC IOS202 Installer to run, and the WiiMC Installer to also:-

    i) Tried deleting IOS202 that was already on my Wii – no change as WiiMC IOS202 Installer still gives Black Screen freeze!

ii) Tried removing USB HDD and USB Keyboard from Wii Console – no change still Black screen on launching Installers!

Any suggestions and actions to try, as to why the WiiMC Channel loads and installs, but WiiMC IOS202 Installer fsils and WiiMC 1.0.4 (New Install) also give that Black screen ‘lock-up’?

I might try a WiiMC 1.0.1 (New Install) and then if that works,
can try the WiiMC 1.0.4 (Update)

Not had any real problems at all with all the other Wii applications I have installed, so was a bit of a shock to find WiiMC install failed!

Would be great if such WiiMC install and IOS202 requirement was incorporated into NUS Auto Downloader, along with the Channel

Any help/suggestions welcome as I am keen to see if this can turn my Wii Console into ‘GUI JUKEBOX’ for Music, and Video Movies, with display of Images/Box Cover Art, rather than just the usual Album/Artist/Track/Title name selection.

I have installed 202 Hermes v5, because the 202 installer for download also gives an error like this.

Solved my problems by reinstalling missing stub IOS’es using DOP-IOS. I’ve also installed Hermes 5.1 IOS 202 with 57 in the mean time, may be that helps too.
