New YUV->RGB conversion in TEV for videos up to 720p
Restrict video loading to 720p (1280×720)
Im not sure what these mean, I tried playing an mkv and avi both with resolutions of 1280×536 and bitrates of around 3000, although they played they were lagging and unwatchable.
should they play correctly?
thank you 😉

I’d like to update my what plays and what does not play post. Thanks.August 16, 2010 at 7:46 pm #26783LoTeKParticipantIm not sure about the mkv it was a sample which i have deleted 😆
The avi was xvid

My tests show that lip sync is lost with them around 640 wide and 500kbps even though the video may play at higherwidth and rates. Xvids require less cpu and the Wii seems to be able to handle 1280 wide up to at least 1500kbps but thats no good for good quality BR xvids which require ~ 3mbps. MPEG2 is the least demanding but most of mine are 1920 so I haven’t identified their 1280 limit yet.
All this is moot since the WII scales everything down to Standard Definition so vlc-shares is the best HD solution using the PC to do the scaling and the WII to play the resulting 640 wide MPEG at 4mbps = DVD quality.
