I currently have a problem where my wii freezes when watching a video stored on the external hard drive of my ftp server if I pause the video for too long. I figure this is because the hard drive sleeps after a certain time since it works perfectly if the video is stored on the server’s internal hard drive. It will still play the little bit that was buffered after resuming before it freezes, and once it freezes I can not exit out of the video nor does it resume after waiting for 5-10 minutes. My only option is turning off the wii, I don’t think it’s completely frozen since I can turn off the wii using the wiimote. When browsing through the videos with WiiMC, the hard drive wakes up just fine after about 30 seconds, and if I leave for a while to let it sleep then try browsing the videos it will just wake up again so the problem is only during playback.
My hard drive is a 3TB Western Digital connected over USB to a computer running ubuntu server edition. I have a clean IOS58 installed with DOP-Mii that I confirmed is what the HBC and WiiMC are using.
