For me, I started having problems with samba only after upgrading from 1.0.9 to 1.1.0. I have windows 7 32 bit. Once I downgraded to 1.0.9, the problem went away. I actually just showed up here to see if anyone else had this problem. I probably should report this as a bug. Let me know if downgrading fixes it for you – it seems that we have a definite regression here.
