Version 1.0 Released

April 16th, 2010

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Version 1.0 of WiiMC. It’s been a long time in the works, but we finally feel confident enough in the quality of the application to release it. However, please keep in mind that as this is a first release you will likely encounter bugs or find features missing that you may have been expecting.

We highly recommend that you download and run the IOS 202 Installer before starting WiiMC for the first time, even if you have previously installed IOS 202.

Please find your way to the Forum to discuss the project or any issues you have. If you do encounter a bug, please report it.

There’s still plenty of improvement possible, in terms of stability, performance, and features, so I would like to invite anyone who’s interesting in helping out to dive into the source code and start coding. We definitely need the help. If you have trouble compiling, visit our Forum. If you do make changes that you feel would be useful, please submit a patch.

I’m having a problem signing up in the forums, so I’ll ask here: This plays all of my DVDs nicely, except for two of my TV Show Box sets. One of them freezes at the menu (disabling the DVD Menu in settings doesn’t help, still goes to it and freezes), the other get’s and Invalid DVD error on all disks (I have come to find out that this particular box set is a boot leg, but I had already bought it and I want to watch it), this set works on my friends DVD player (I tested it), any suggestions?

    @ThatDude
The problem is extracting keys, there are dvds that we need to use a method that need a lot of ram to extract the key and we haven’t enough ram for it in the wii.
    What’s your problem registering?

wonderfull release! man oh man, this project really is a big impovement from mplayer ce…

only problem i am having is the fact that it crashes/hangs on some dvd’s and that i can’t change the audio stream on dvd. it just keeps on playing the english one… i asume it has something to do with the language option on the global settings(which cannot be changed yet)

Changing audio streams will be added in the next release. This just never occurred to me for some reason.

i’m happy you guys will add it in the next release šŸ™‚ maybe by a button in play like the b button for subtitles šŸ™‚ and in menu too šŸ™‚

-When screwing around with music playlists, the ‘Shuffle/Loop/Etc’ button and the ‘Playlist’ button stop functioning.
    -Can’t zoom in on photos.
-When grabbing the scroll bar with the cursor in folders that have a large amount of files, you can’t scroll down to the very bottom or very top.
-The ‘playback remaining’ for music seems to work completely randomly, and is almost never accurate.
    -Can’t control volume in ‘Music’.
    -Random crashes.

This is simply incredible. HUGE improvement over MplayerCE. Thank you guys for all your hard work, it’s greatly appreciated!

However, the only problem I’m noticing is that sometimes a stream through SMB can cause the player to hang and eventually crash unless you go back to the menu and select the item over again. Anyone else have this issue?

Just installed and ran through the new layout/options. Quality, look and feel are very slick/professional. The new SMB config is much better. Very impressive. This is THE reason I use my Wii.

I made a small PayPal donation and I hope everyone else does too. Thanks for all your hard, good work!

May V1.0.1 be the first of many until we hit perfection….. Now whos on for changing the GFX card on the Wii for a better one to support x264 1080p šŸ™‚ (JOKE!) Thank You Kindly #WIImC team ! from [NiNjA]UK
