Version 1.1.1 Released

December 16th, 2010
Version 1.1.1 has been released along with an updated WiiMC Channel that has better USB compatibility. This release contains quite a few bugfixes but also has some nice new features, including ISO/IFO support (with DVD menus!), playlist support in the Videos/Music areas, and image resizing via the Wiimote. Happy Holidays! Full changelog:

  • Synced to MPlayer r32709
  • Fixed image stuttering and audio sync issues
  • Fixed pointer alignment on DVD menus
  • Added ISO/IFO DVD playback, with DVD menu support
  • Added screen resizing while watching a video via the Wiimote. Just hold down B and use the arrow keys (thanks clava!)
  • Performance optimizations using paired singles (thanks Extrems!)
  • Improved USB compatibility
  • Added support for playlist files in the Videos and Music areas
  • Enable negative subtitle delay values
  • Replace libmp3 with libmpg123. Fixes a number of MP3 audio bugs
  • Added a setting to change the starting area
  • New JPG scaler for the Picture Viewer (thanks puddles!)
  • Display artist and song on separate lines for SHOUTcast (thanks jhb50!)
  • Added settings for YouTube quality and caching for online media
  • Subtitle autoscaling
  • Added a delay on startup so those with slow USB drives are not bumped back to the main browser list
  • Shifted all GUI elements inwards to fix left/right cropping occuring on 16:9 for some people
  • Fixed a Picture Viewer crash
  • Fixed lowercase bug for NTFS
  • Many other minor fixes and improvements

    THX for great release!!

Great to see a new update for XMas πŸ™‚ Thanks for the fixes, now here are a few things I have noticed with the release and a few options that I would like to see:

    Problems:
    1) Playing DVDs (2 I tried so far) the audio seems to start off-sync, but if I just rewind it a bit (pressed the left arrow button once during play) it seems to go back in sync.
    2) Major freezing when starting to play certain MP4 video files. The controls seemed to be stuck and took me a while to get out.
    3) The DVD pointer doesn’t seem to align with the Wii hand pointer finger. (Example: One menu item I selected only worked when using the bottom left of the hand pointer)

    Features Request:
    1) Organize the SMB shortcuts in alphabetical order.
    2) Add Auto-Play next video for online media ONLY!
    3) Getting back to quickly fast forward or rewind Navi-X files. (Not sure if this is possible again, but I do miss this)

Again, thanks for all your great work and have a great holiday. πŸ™‚

Is there any improvement getting xmbc/navi-x on the wii-mc better than it is for the moment? Do you think a link to media online content and covers for dvd is possible ?

I just installed the new version and was eager to try the new “Added ISO/IFO DVD playback, with DVD menu support” feature but it only crashes wiimc.

Great work :). How can I change the language of a video? In last releases you could change it with pressing down.

installed 1.1.1 and now it won’t recognize my usb drive. I had no issue with this on 1.1.0. Otherwise it’s working wonderfully.

Man been waiting ages for this update to see if it would fix the usb issue but sadly no still not being picked up πŸ™ i love this app sooooo much and really wanna get back to useing it currently useing LACIE Minimus 1TB USB.

  16. Brannon
    December 16th, 2010 at 16:10 | #16

Still doesn’t wait for my 750gb Lacie to load. It used to many, many releases ago. I have to either first open wii and then plugin (it has an external powersource) the usb drive, wait it to load and then start WiiMC or open a usb loader first, go back to menu and then start WiiMC. It works like that. Used to work straight though already back in the Mplayer CE days.

Another thing i would really appreciate is an option of When, while browsing youtube.

Great job anyway, this is what I most use Wii for these days πŸ™‚

subtitles seem to become bigger whenever they want, I suppose its because of the auto scaling, how can I deactivate this function?

  22. Dazzla
    December 17th, 2010 at 08:27 | #22

Shoutcast radio streams no longer work. Selecting them in the menu gives an “error loading file” message, or freezes the program forcing a hard reboot of the console.

    December 17th, 2010 at 10:11 | #23

It would be great if you give the possibility to remove the green crosses that appears when you see a video.. or to use them to indicate the videos that you can resume..

    Hi,

because my SDCard reader is out of order, I have to install WiiMC on my USB HDD (FAT32) but with this new version I’ve got at startup
    > Error
    > Could not find a valid SD or USB device – one is required for normal operation
When I click Ok -> black screen, not more response.

WiiMC Channel Installer 1.6 does not detect it too.

I’ve tried from an update and from a clean install.

Thank for all your work !!!

Just updated yesterday, but had to downgrade.
With this new version I’m unable to play the .avi files on my USB HDD. It crashes giving me an “Exception (Alignment) occured!” with a lot of numbers and so.

  27. PPSainity
    December 18th, 2010 at 23:54 | #27

    @DyCer
I get the same Alignment Exception Dump. When playing regular sub-DVD resolution Xvid AVIs that played fine on the previous WiiMC v1.0.7 that I was using I now get Alignment exception dumps thrown. This happens with at least half of the videos in my collection. I have made a forum post on the error here: “http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1011”.

    @demmet
2nd that! Wiimc is great and I’m considering using Wiimc rather than my Popcorn Hour but I would just miss the option of browsing my movies by covers and movie details. With a Wiiflow style browsing that would be way superior to my current setup.

Had to downgrade back to 1.1.0. Had crashes for every show I played with in 3 minutes over a wireless network using SMB share.

    1.1.0 Rocks!!!!

Sound of some (divx) videos is terrible with the latest version. I went back to the previous version and now the sound is normal again.

    December 21st, 2010 at 06:32 | #37

Thanks for the update. My HDD is now showing up in WiiMC.
Sounds like the wait time for usb to be discovered fixed my problem (most “green” drives tends to spin down whenever they want to)
However it seems to work only when launched through HBC and not when using the channel (channel updated and using IOS58 for HBC)
    Good work anyway.

Agree with Podt, sound on divx files is terrible, last version was perfect, had to downgrade, (but keep getting the anoying new version available message, an option to prevent auto update would be great)

What the crap, my 44.1KHz 24bit FLACs are cutting out ~30 seconds in when playing from an SD card. They were just fine back on 1.1.0

  46. NM64
    December 23rd, 2010 at 15:02 | #46

    @NM64
Double what the crap. Somehow, someway, my FLACs pretty much got murdered. Their filesize shows that a good random chunk of data is missing from each – some minor, some major.

Hi, I’d like to know if you could enable entering a name in the IP section of the SMB Share config.

The reason for this is that my ip keeps switching between wired and wireless (with my laptop) and that allowing lan searching with computer name instead of IP would work great and solve any issue related to ip changing when you’re on a network.

Thanks a lot for the great software!
There’s nothing plugged on my tv other than the wii, and WiiMC runs pretty much everything I watch!

Hi, is it possible to add a subtitle autoscaling option (on/off) ?

I didnt like the autoscaling. I downgraded to 1.1.0. On 1.1.1, my subtitles dont respect the size i previously config. Each movie release has a resolution and the subtitles keep changing the size (too big for the screen or too small). I like the 3.5 size.

    Thanks!
