Tantric did you add code to check to see if the hard drive is connected? This did not occur with 1.0.4 and I am running r394 which also does not check the drive every 2 seconds. Why does this not happen if ios 202 is not installed? I suspect this occurred with the usb2 changes that occured in r395. I know you rolled those changes back for 1.0.6 but maybe some residuals still exist. Something has certainly changed. Does this also occur on your system? Thanks for your support…

I have done some more testing on this problem and found the culprit to be ios202 when running 1.0.6. If I run wiimc with no ios202 the hard drive poling every 2 seconds stops. I decided to try several different flavors of ios202 to see if the problem would go away. None of these ios202 installs eliminate the problem. Here is what I have tried…

    wiimc 202 v1.0 base 57
    wiimc 202 v1.1 base 57
    Hermes 202 v5.1 base 57
    Hermes 202 v5.0 base 57
    Hermes 202 v5.0 base 37
    Hermes 202 v5.0 base 38
    Hermes 202 v5.0 base 60
    Hermes 202 v4.0 base 38+60

I am running the app from my usb external that is formated FAT32. However the problem also exists if I run the app from my SD card. I can easily verify the poling because I have my external case open and can here the hard drive being hit every 2 seconds. The led activity light is also blinking with activity. I would guess that most folks have not noticed this because their external is inside the case and they cannot here the drive being hit. They probably are not monitoring the drive activity light either. Can anyone who reads this please verify what I am seeing here? You must be running 1.0.6 and have any flavor of ios202 installed to see the problem. Just observe the drive activity light after launching the app. Thanks to all…

That is what I am talking about jhb50. I think it confuses allot of people. I wish Tantric would consider giving the user the option of the folder settings being dynamic or static. If anyone else has an opinion on this issue then please post it.

Does anyone else but Pitchuk and I agree on this one?

    Hi Tantric,

Thanks for your reply and explanation. So the folder paths are dynamic. What is the point in having a user configurable settings that will be overridden by the application on exit? This means that a user can never go up a level or the settings will get changed if they do not go back down before exiting the app. I would think that most folks would have static folders where they store their media. In my case I have a root folder called media. Under media I have sub folders video, music, and pictures. It is of course possible and likely to have sub folders under video, music, and pictures. I can see remembering the last sub folder under video, music or pictures but not anything above the root folder for the media type. Would it be possible to add an option to make the media folder settings static? Or at least static to the media specific root folder (i.e. Video, Music, Pictures)?

Thanks for all your hard work on this app. It is without question the slickest most professionally written app available for the Wii. Thanks for your support…

Perhaps I spoke to soon. I just downloaded and installed 1.03 and folder settings are getting wiped out. Perhaps the problem was never fixed in 1.02. I think I did not test it enough. My original post that the settings were not retained if the folder was empty does not seem to be the problem with 1.03. This problem exists for all media folder settings. Here are the steps to reproduce the problem…

    1. Set folder path for any of the Media types.
    2. Click the icon for the media type. The folder will be displayed with or without files in the folder.
    3. Now continue to press Up One Level to move back up the directory tree until you reach the top.’
The Screen should now display USB Mass Storage and Data DVD.
    4. Now click the icon again for the media type and nothing happens.
    5. Check the folder setting again for the media type and it will now be blank.

Tantric can you please fix this problem? Thanks for your support…
