He’s right, there has already been some discussion about this. I also think that using the “1”-Button for the playlist feature and through this making volume control with + and – possible would be better, but tantric isn’t really convinced by this idea, a he finds using the 1- and 2-button pretty unconfortable to use.

My suggestion would be a custom button mapping in some future release. Then everybody could decide on his own what he likes better…

@pista: So there isn’t even going to be a 1.0.4 release? That explains why you guys are waiting so long with releasing… So I’m looking forward to see the new features in WiiMC 1.1 🙂

After nearly one month I also think that there are enough new features to do a new release.

1.0.3 starts with a code dump on my wii, so I’m forced to use unofficial compiled revisions. I’m using r343 right now and it works like a charm.

Considering that since 1.0.3 among others:
    – the option to change subtitle sizes and colors (which many consider as pretty useful)
    – a screensaver
    – a checkmark indicator for watched files
    – new alternate theme colors 🙂
    – the option to do a continous video play (which is – imho – VERY useful, as many people split movies in two parts)
    – maaaany many language updates and fixes
and various other features and bugfixes have been added, I really think it’s not a bad idea to think about reasing 1.0.4 anytime soon.

That’s just my opinion, in case anyone is gonna listen 😉

    Just tried out rev342 and I’m amazed! That’s exactly what I meant 💡 🙂

Would you mind adding a stronger blue? That’d be rad 🙂
I mean now the blue theme is a little bit like this, but I’d prefer something like this. Then I’d be perfect 😀

Wow, I totally agree on boondoklife’s idea. That would be amazing! No really, please implement that 💡

I had exactly the same issue running on the official 1.0.3 release. Didn’t try unplugging my external drive though, but I guess that might have solved it (gonna try out these days). Anyways, what I just wanted to add is that the crash on startup was fixed for me when I used an unofficial compiled rev330 of WiiMc. Works like a charm with external HDD plugged in… so obviously somebody already fixed the bug, hope we won’t see this again in 1.0.4

Afaik all of these USB-Loaders are only meant to run backups of your retail games, but no homebrew at all. Unless you have some weird priiloader hack to directly boot into WiiFlow, I wouldn’t even understand why you are trying to do this… Just install the Forwarder Channel and start WiiMC through your Systemmenu, that’s the fastest solution and at least you can be sure that it WILL work 😉

.mov-support would be cool… is it possible?

I guess you’re right, but wasn’t DVD Menu support one of the announced features for the first release of WiiMC? I was so much looking forward to somebody finally getting this done the >right< way… 🙁 Well, I hope you guys will eventually make it! I cross my fingers 🙂

By the way, I just figured out that language selection is possible with the D-Pad unsing the up and down directions. How should anybody know that? I really think some kind of a “home-menu” would be more obvious. So this is my feature suggestion for now, so to speak as a temporary solution until the DVD menus REALLY work 😉

So this is a problem of IOS202 rather than a bug in WiiMC? Hmm, so that means chances are pretty low, that this will be fixed one day, considering that all the other cIOSes also have been unsing that USB slot literally for ages

OK, as obviously nobody wanted to help me I just did some tests and figured out some stuff by myself.

DVD support actually DOES work with IOS202 installed, I only didn’t FIND it, because it is not listed in the Video tab but as a completly new tab. Call me stupid, but I guess I’m not the only user who had this problem. This is not actually a bug, but the fact that I overlooked the DVD button on top shows that it would be a good idea to rethink this whole tab-thing. Wouldn’t it be better to just be able to first select a source, then browse through it and after all to be able to play a file that I select? It’s pretty unusual to select the filetype BEFORE starting to browse, isn’t it? Well, maybe thats just my opinion.

Second problem was that USB didn’t seem to work after I installed IOS202, but worked perfectly without having IOS202 installed. Well, I found out that it DOES continue to work with IOS202 installed, but only on the USB Slot which is used by USB Backup-Loaders to connect an external harddrive (which I do). How come that both USB slots are enabled without having IOS202 installed, but only one of those with IOS202 installed? Is that gonna be fixed one day or is there no chance to do that?

Hmm, ok ok just tested it, you’re actually right.

Now, I just removed IOS202 from my system (with Any Title Deleter): USB support now works again(if WiiMC is booted through HBC), but for DVD it’s also only data support, I didn’t realize that before, I’m sorry about that. Before my last post I had just tested USB and expected anything else to function like in MPlayerCE, considering both of those apps share a lot of their code… guess I was wrong. But USB support runs perfect as long as I don’t have IOS202 installed.

As far as the forwarder goes, I have now written down the exact words that appear on the screen:

Could not find a valid SD or USB device – one is required for normal operation.

So this is trying to use the forwarder with no IOS202 installed. 😕

    In a nutshell:
    – There is probably a bug in the Forwarder Channel, which makes it refuse to run if there’s no IOS202 installed.
    – There’s gotta be some bug in the recent Release 1.0.3 which makes the app to not run at all on my system, whereas the latest compiled build (rev324) doesn’t crash
    – There is some kind of problem which makes WiiMC – at least on my Wii – disable the USB feature with IOS202 installed for some reason. 🙁

I installed IOS202 with the provided installer from the download section by the way.
