I noticed that H.264-coded MP4 files will go out of sync (audio lags video), whereas the Xvid avi’s did not – they played right through without issue.

My evaluation/test was season 7 of Bones – the format changed from epi6 to 7

When watching H.264 files I could get audio to sync back…sort of… if I stopped watching ( returning to file list) and going back into same video.

I am experiencing the same thing… and it seemed to start right after I added network (ftp) definitions to WiiMC. Did you do that as well?

    I’m getting crash dumps too.

The crash dumps themselves (DSI or ISI, I have seen both). Have not responded to any of the workarounds posted here, and I’ve tried them all. FWIW, I load all video from an FTP share, and my Wii gets a files through wireless router (and the Wii is the only wireless device accessing router).

Is there someone with a bit of programming knowledge who might be able to identify a root cause based on the stack dumps? Those Fatal Exceptions Windows is famous for are actually quite helpful, this should be no different. I have a sneaking suspicion that the answer might be somewhere in the Write command or something like that. The Settings.xml corruption and now this, seem to me to behave as if there is an issue creating a file, possibly deleting a same-named temp file used for caching… or something like that. Where are the cached files created?

I’m just brainstorming here…. throwing out ideas. I think many of us realize how good this player is ( compared to the other offerings ), and we’re interested in helping provide information that leads to a solution.

The more information presented, the more likely a root cause will come to light.

    Hey…

I just did this, but used FTP as SMB wasn’t behaving. Here’s the thread I just posted. http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1618 and a screen shot showing the shares. This is running WiiMC+ but it’s the same for WiiMC. My external HDD is a Seagate Goflex Home ( with a 2nd GoFlex attached to that via USB), and my router is a DLink WBR1310.

Quick edit/add here: I noticed that when I started adding network shares, for some reason the settings.xml file would get corrupted. Figure out what you need to do and do it all at one session…don’t click out of the setting window to check your work, that’s when I ran into problems… I guess too many saves/overwrites.

OK. I went back to the drawing board. I thought about what I had done the first time through, and recalled that it was very, very basic. I didn’t have to fight with capitalization of share names and folders (with the people at Seagate do apparently to confuse noobies).

So… I erased all of that which I had entered; I only entered the the IP address I assigned to the drive (192.168.0.150). Folder name I left blank. Added username and password (which were already there, but did it again anyways).

    PRESTO!!

When I clicked on the FTP connection under movies it popped up instantly. So fast infact I didn’t realize what I was looking at.

Just wanting to add that I’ve encountered the same issue. Thought I read while looking into this myself that 1.7 works, but can’t confirm that. I CAN tell you that 1.1 suffers the same issue (WiiMC 1.1 was on a backup SD card I had kicking around from a while back).
