After looking at this more deeply there are in fact multiple ways of saving and recalling folders when switching modes( Video/Music/Pictures/OnLineMedia ) and at Startup. Its not just a matter of Locking them as requested in #134. I have therefore modified the #134 request to work as follows:

The default WIIMC action is to remember and always recall the last used folder in each mode (Use Locked Folders = Never). The problem with that is that when begining a new session, the startup folders will be set to those last used in the previous session and may need to be adjusted back to a preferred starting folder, so an option to recall a preferred Locked Folder at startup yet recall the last used folder within the session may be preferred. (Use Locked Folders = At Startup}. A third option to always recall a preferred Locked Folder when switching modes (Use Locked Folders = Always) may also be useful when one prefers to always start each mode at a particular folder. Lastly the ability to apply these options individually to each mode rather than globally, offers full flexibility.

With this implementation, when the Lock Folders value in Settings is set to (Never) the Folder value stored in Settings for each mode will change dynamically with each folder used in that mode. The Folder value for each mode may be Locked at its current value by changing the Global Lock Folders value to (At Startup) or (Always) or to (Use Local) if the Lock Folders value in the Setting for each mode are to be set and used instead.

Use partcopy http://www.virtualobjectives.com.au/utilitiesprogs/PartCopy_v1.11.2.4.zip and attach 6 megs of one of your files so i can test it.

I have dropped the videobitrates in the 3 VLC commands in the bat to 4000 which should match DVD quality. You could drop it further to see if it makes a difference. My wireless connection varies with distance from the router but it should be fine at the full 54mbps, unless you are doing P2P stuff at the same time.

Yes, you are in the border zone..it will depend on the bitrate there as well but generally not watchable.

That’s correct. You only need to Install IOS202 if you want DVD support, and there are some WII’s (the more recent ones I think) that cannot be moded to support the DVD. In my case I simply chose not to install it.

Chrisic: This is very confusing to me and I’m sure to others who have never bothered or wanted to get involved with IOS’s. I have NO IOS’s installed and don’t want to and my 5 smb’s work perfectly for me. Are you saying that your IOS’s created an smb streaming problem, and this is how you fixed it? I see no other posts reporting an smb freezing problem, so perhaps you could post their links if I missed them so I and others can better understand the background to this problem. Thank you.

Madis: I don’t know how to help you. It’s real simple. Install the streamvideo.bat in c:bat. Add a shortcut to it to sendto. Download the exact files I identified and install them in C:Programs as used by streamvideo.bat. Then send any video to streambat and it will stream. I just did that over again and it works fine.

If you have problems you need to get the bat output with @echo on to see what parts don’t work. Does VLC open on the pc? Does the time counter run? Can you also open a VLC client on your PC and get the stream there? You need to do each of these and give me the answers before I can help.

I’ve noticed this too but not always. I’ll watch for it and see what I can find out.

Can you give me some examples? Are you sure they are not HD which will always crash the WII? Lots of flv’s are now HD..eg: hulu and US networks. My SD flvs all play fine but won’t skip.

Pista seems to know about this. All I can say is that the MPlayer code has been updated in the development code so hopefully the problem will be resolved in 1.0.5.

Sure would help if you would add some .’s and ?’s in your long sentence so I can figure out what you are asking. Also I don’t know what you mean by passive. I have no problem listing on the menu the names of my 5 smb’s.

Madis, I don’t know what you mean by cannot install ffmpeg. Its just an exe that you download and copy to a programs folder. The only command window is StreamVideo and if it closes early it has hit a bad statement. I don’t believe there are any in the one I posted. You need to insert pause statements in the bat to find the last statement that displays without closing. The next statement is bad. Try streaming a divx which will not use ffmpeg to verify streaming works first, then go back to your avc/aac video and work on the problem. Be sure you used 22140 from the link I posted, which fixes an ffmpeg bug that impacts AAC transcoding.

PS: I see on checking the bat in the VLC command in section :avcflv that it has :dst 8080..it should be 8081, but I don’t think that’s your problem.

geegee: I was just wondering if WIIMC could be added to the WII Menu when I saw your post.

Unfortunately, apart from the notice that a Channel Installer is available, there is no other reference or instructions on how to do this within the WIIMC forum.

As someone who has obviously done this, how about posting for other users how to go about installing this, or at least post some links on where they can find relevant info. I41 would appreciate it. Thanks.
